In our efforts to make classifieds even more social, we’ve introduced more sharing options and the ability to link your eBay Classifieds account with your LinkedIn account.
Recently we added sharing and account linking with Twitter to our earlier additions of sharing, liking, connecting, and registering with Facebook. Now users have the ability to link their eBay Classifieds account with the popular business networking site LinkedIn. We’ve also added easy LinkedIn sharing and the Facebook Send button to all of our ads.
Linking Accounts with LinkedIn
To connect your LinkedIn account with your eBay Classifieds account, click on the Manage my ads link at the top right corner of any page and then click on the My Profile tab. We’ve simplified the Social Networks section to make it easier for you to link your account with the most popular social media sites. Below the Facebook and Twitter sections is the new LinkedIn section.
Click the “Connect with LinkedIn” button, and then grant eBay Classifieds access to your LinkedIn Account.
After adding LinkedIn to your eBay Classifieds account, you can choose to display a link to your LinkedIn public profile on your user badge and whether or not to auto-share your new ads (by default) on LinkedIn upon posting. Note that you’ll have the opportunity before posting each ad to selectively choose which social networks to auto-share your ad.
While we think auto-sharing on LinkedIn will be most useful in our free Jobs and Services categories, we wanted to give our users the flexibility to use this feature for all ad categories.
We continue to encourage you to let buyers and job seekers know who you are. If you choose to show your LinkedIn details on your user badge, all ads you post will reflect that setting.
Sharing Any Ad on LinkedIn
In addition to linking accounts with LinkedIn, we’ve also introduced a button to facilitate easy sharing of any ad on LinkedIn. In our newly revised “Share” section on every ad details page, you’ll now see bigger share buttons including a LinkedIn button.
By clicking the LinkedIn share button, you’ll be taken to LinkedIn with the ad details and image repopulated. You can then add additional comments and take advantage of other LinkedIn sharing functionality before sharing the ad on LinkedIn.
Facebook Send Button
Facebook introduced the new Send button (http://developers.facebook.com/blog/post/494/) a few weeks ago, and we’re thrilled to be the first eBay Inc. property to incorporate the new functionality on our site. Also in our newly revised “Share” section you’ll see the Send button just to the right of the Like button.
When you’d prefer to send an ad to one or a handful of friends instead of sharing it with everyone on your Facebook wall, use the Send button instead of the Like button.
As always, we hope you find these changes helpful and welcome your feedback.
