Winter fun for the whole family

With snow covering 49 out of 50 states, it’s time to bundle up and take a snow day! While many of us think of curling up next to the fire with a cup of hot chocolate or playing a board game during the winter months, the snow accumulating in the backyard can provide endless possibilities of fun. 

Whether you are taking a weekend trip to the slopes for the fresh powder, or hitting the great outdoors to build a snowman or make snow angels, make sure you have the essentials for the whole family. Be prepared and stay warm from the inside out with items like a thermos, waterproof jackets and snow boots.

With a few simple, inexpensive winter accessories you and your family will be ready for the great outdoors.  Here are a few of our favorite activities: 

• Sure, it’s just walking, but blazing your own trail in snow shoes through the untouched forest will bring a new level of appreciation for nature.
• Hit the slopes at your local ski resort and shred the new powder. Tip: Ski school is a great place to start for both kids and adults!
• Fly down the hills in your backyard with ease on a sled or toboggan. Tip: Take it to next level and form a train of tubes, you won’t be disappointed.
